Making Of PDX The Kennel
PDX the Dog Daycare and Training Center had been going
strong since December of 2004, but we realized that we were missing a
big opportunity and doing our customers a disservice by not offering
boarding. The dogs love it here, they're comfortable with the facility
and staff, and they have many canine friends to keep them occupied. So
we needed to build them a place to stay when their human families were
off to parts unknown. Needed it badly! After years of planning, a few
disappointing setbacks, and a lot of perseverance, it's finally
happening -- PDX The Kennel will be ready for prime time on June 2nd,
2008. Here's how it's going:

May 1: Mats have been removed from a 17x60 area at the back of the arena. This frame went up in one day!
Angie and her dad, Bill Jennings, discuss several knotty technical problems before the drywall goes up. Something about measuring twice...
Mic and Cris trying out the newly defined kennel space. They approve of the effort, but note there is much to be done.
May 2: Ray, James, and Jo arrive to hang sheetrock and insulation. Special acoustical sealant is used to minimize external noise in the boarding area.
Almost done! The 12-foot walls are now completely enclosed. Over 1,000 square feet are now ready to be finished.
