Daycare Photo Journal

May 2006: SO OVER the April showers and right ready for the May flowers. There's nothing quite like a room full of wet dogs, to make one yearn for the vast outdoors, or at least an aqualung to breath with. But spring is well under way, and things are beginning to look lush again here in Tennessee. The dogs add a special sparkle to the scenery, and we're happy to share these pictures of them romping and rough-housing and just being dogs.

For the progress report: We have 134 of Chattanooga's finest Canis Domesticus on the roll with about 34 here on any day. The most we've ever had in one day is 44 dogs, and we're thinking it'll be time soon to look for another helper to watch over the big dogs in the mornings. Tuesdays and Thursdays are LDDs (Little Dog Days), and they're nearing capacity at about 14. We're looking into adding a web cam inside and a fenced-in area out front so they can frolic off-lead outdoors like the big guys do all day.

On other fronts, we put on a tracking seminar and hosted a wonderful two-day Canine Freestyle show sponsored by the First Florida Freestylers and Canis Major Guilds on the Canine Freestyle Federation. We participated in agility, obedience, flyball, and safety demos for dog lovers young (Hamilton North Elementary School) and old (Southern Heritage Assisted Living Center).

Finally, most sadly, Nancy lost her Boxer boy, Boo, to bone cancer. She and he had a special connection that will make it both easier and harder for her to fall in love again. But she will, one day, of that I am sure... -- Bev
